Health and safety facts and figures

In 2012/13 – In UK alone 148 workers had died due to fatal injuries. Though the number is less compared to 2011/12 when 171 workplace deaths were reported. The numbers might be revised again and can change.

As always the major industries that has the highest number of fatal injuries are: Construction, agriculture and waste & recycling. Construction again tops the list reminding us that basic health and safety in construction should be top priority for companies.

European fatal injuries statistics

The above graph shows data from 12 major sectors including construction, agriculture and manufacturing. Great Britain has a rate of 0.71 per 100,000 workers that is much lesser than the EU 15. The data doesn’t include any travel related injuries.
